just three things: september 22, 2017

Happy fall equinox, friends! How are you planning to celebrate? We are having a big church party over here (you should come!). I’m hoping this is becoming a tradition for the solstices and equinoxes. Here are just three things from around the interwebs this week:

  1. I listened and loved the first two episodes of Kate and Colby’s new podcast on Grant’s recommendation. I especially loved their discussion of making peace as a family value in the second episode. I’m looking forward to the weeks/episodes to come.
  2. Increases in CO2 are making our plants (especially the ones we eat) less healthy.
  3. Sea salt (and plenty of other stuff) is contaminated by plastic. “Researchers believe the majority of the contamination comes from microfibres and single-use plastics such as water bottles, items that comprise the majority of plastic waste. Up to 12.7m tonnes of plastic enters the world’s oceans every year, equivalent to dumping one garbage truck of plastic per minute into the world’s oceans, according to the United Nations.” I don’t like to get bossy, but if you’re still using plastic water bottles and you live in the United States where most of us have clean drinking water, please, please stop.

Happy first weekend of fall!
